A ‘knowledge transfer network' across universities, research institutions and commercial growers allowing end-users to put in place optimum growing conditions and techniques
Comparisons to Traditional High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) Lights
Photosynthetically active radiation, often abbreviated PAR, designates the spectral range (wave band) of solar radiation from 400 to 700 nanometers that photosynthetic organisms are able to use in the process of photosynthesis. HPS lights generate light in the region of 550 – 630nm which, whilst providing a good growth light spectrum for plants, is not the broad spectrum within the PAR range required for optimum photosynthesis. By contrast, the PhytoLux Attis range of LED growth lights is configured to provide broad spectrum light at the specific wavelengths within the PAR range ideal for optimal photosynthesis.
There are some important differences between PhytoLux LED grow lights and HPS lights
HPS Lights
PhytoLux Attis Units
Higher energy consumption (lamp plus ballast losses)
Rapid light loss over time
Reduced life from frequent switching
Higher heat-load
Narrow light spectral range not optimum for photosynthesis
Higher maintenance costs
Lower energy consumption (less than 40% of HPS)
Stable long-life light emission
Single bin high-quality LED chips
Lower heat-load
Broad wavelength spectrums to provide optimum photosynthesis
Lower maintenance costs
Solutions
Obtaining the correct balance between temperature, irrigation, humidity, CO2, nutrients and light is critical to the successful application of LED plant grow lights. Plants respond differently under LED lights to those grown under artificial light such as HPS, or grown only under natural light. Optimising and correctly balancing all these input variables results in similar or improved growth response from an LED crop. Because every grower has different requirements and installations differ from site to site, PhytoLux work with the grower to provide the appropriate balance for their LED installation. PhytoLux offers a comprehensive programme of knowledge transfer so the end-user understands this new technology and is able to create the best conditions for successful growing.

Low business impact finance model
PhytoLux is in partnership with a number of lease financiers to offer customers a flexible financing solution to match their requirements and circumstances. Whilst an outright purchase is simple, it can impact short-term cash flow, undesirable if coinciding with heavy seasonal costs. The PhytoLux lease finance option allows for early adoption of LED technology without affecting business viability.
